הדברים נאמרו בכנס חנוכה תשפ"ו במוזיאון הלוחם היהודי במלה"ע ה-2
חג חנוכה שמח!
חנוכה הוא חג של גבורה יהודית.
מעבר למה שמאפיין חג יהודי, אתם יודעים – הם באו להשמידנו, אנחנו ניצחנו אותם, ועכשיו נשב לאכול – יש לנו בכל דור ודור סיפורי גבורה שונים.
גם בדור שלנו יש לנו סיפורי גבורה, ואפילו את השואה כבר חיברו לנו באופן מלאכותי ליום של שואה וגבורה. תרשו לי להתעכב לרגע על השם הזה. מה פירוש שואה ו-גבורה? בצורה כזו אנו מפרידים בין שואה לגבורה. האם הייתה גבורה בשואה, בעיקר גבורת הנפש, והייתה שואה, רצח עם של חלשים, שלא היו גיבורים? טעות נוראית! בשואה היו מעשי גבורה יומיומיים, ואסור להפריד את המילים האלה, כפי שנעשה בעבר רק מתוך פחד מתגובת הציבור מצד המוסדות הרשמיים שלנו, ודווקא ע"י ניצולי שואה.
אבל היו מעשי גבורה נוספים בעיקר בשנתיים האחרונות. מיטב בנינו ובנותינו הקריבו חיים ונפלו תוך גבורה עילאית. בשבוע שעבר צפינו בגבורתם של ששת הנרצחים במנהרות עזה כאשר הם מדליקים נרות חנוכה. אוכל לא היה להם, אוויר לא היה להם 40 מטר מתחת לפני האדמה, אבל מעט חמצן הם מצאו כדי להתאחד סביב לחנוכייה מאולתרת. הם העבירו לנו מסר, וזה אותו מסר מלפני אלפי שנים: "כאשר יענו אותו, כן ירבה וכן יפרוץ!" (שמות א, י"ב)
היום התארחנו במוזיאון הלוחם היהודי במלחמת העולם השנייה. "רק על עצמי לספר ידעתי" כתבה רחל המשוררת, ולפני שהגענו תיעדתי פה את סיפור הגבורה של אבי, רפאל אולבסקי זכרו לברכה, שנלחם כפרש במסגרת הצבא הפולני, מול טנקים נאציים. מה היו הסיכויים שלו? הוא נפצע ונפל בשבי ונמלט למרות עונש מוות שחיכה לו. מסרתי גם תיעוד על דודי מצד אמי רחלה, דב "בן-ברק" זלמנוביץ' הי"ד, שגם שרת בצבא הפולני וגם השתתף במרד אנשי הזונדרקומנדו באושוויץ. מה היו הסיכויים שלו? ובכל זאת הוא מרד, נלחם ולבסוף נרצח.
שניהם הורישו לי מורשת של גאווה לאומית ועצמאות ישראלית. אני מרגיש מחוייב להם.
יהדות העולם הזדעזעה השבוע מהטבח הרצחני באוסטרליה האדישה. מי שחשב שאנטי ישראליות ואנטישמיות הם מונחים שונים, קיבל את האמת בפניו. ההפרדה הזו נוחה בעיקר למי שאינם יהודים. המולדת של עם ישראל והיהדות היא ציון וארץ ישראל. לכן חזרנו לפה. זה בלתי ניתן להפרדה.
ואת זה לא מבינים גם כיום בברגן-בלזן, שם יושבים היום בהנהלה פקידים גרמנים מגונים שרואים אותנו כאויב שלהם, ושהחליטו לסתום לנו את הפה בטקסי הזיכרון האחרונים. לנו – הארגון הגדול ביותר מסוגו בעולם וקהילת ניצולי המחנה הגדולה והפעילה ביותר!
יש לי חדשות לאותם פקידים: ברגן-בלזן היא טריטוריה שלנו ואנחנו מופקדים על שמירת האתר הקדוש הזה.
בהקשר של חנוכה, תחשבו על היוונים של אז שנכנסו וטימאו את בית המקדש שלנו, ואיך החשמונאים גרשו אותם. לצערנו, כמו אז, גם כיום יש יהודים "מתייוונים" לכאורה – שני יהודים גלותיים, שמטעמי כדאיות אישית משתפים פעולה עם אותם פקידים גרמנים. האמת, יש יותר משניים אלה.
אז זה המסר שלנו גם היום: מעוז צור ישועתי! מתוך בטחון בצור ישראל – כפי שנכתב במגילת העצמאות שלנו – אנו מבטיחים כי גם הפעם ננצח אותם!
זה המסר של חנוכה, וזה מה שממתין לצוררינו בגולה.
אני מבקש לומר תודה לכל חברות וחברי ההנהלה שטרחו וטורחים למענכם בכל השנה ובוודאי שבארוע הזה: ריקי זאבי, תמר גלבוע, פיני דריילינגר, חגי רוזנבלום ורחל בבס.

Happy Hanukkah!
Hanukkah is a holiday of Jewish heroism.
Beyond what characterizes every Jewish holiday, you know – they came to kill us, we defeated them, and now let's sit down to eat – we have different stories of heroism in every generation.
In our generation too, we have stories of heroism, however the Holocaust was artificially connected for us as a day of Holocaust and heroism. Allow me to dwell for a moment on this name. What do Holocaust and heroism mean? In this way, we separate Holocaust from heroism. Was there heroism in the Holocaust, mainly heroism of the soul, and was there just Holocaust, a genocide of the weak, who were not heroes? A terrible mistake! The Holocaust includes daily acts of heroism, and we must not separate them from each other. This joint name was made only out of fear of the public reaction by our official institutions, and specifically by some Holocaust survivors.
But there were additional acts of heroism, especially in the last two years. The best of our sons and daughters sacrificed their lives and fell in supreme heroism. Last week, we watched the heroism of the six heroes later murdered in the Gaza tunnels after they lit Hanukkah candles. They had no food, they had no air 40 meters underground, but they found a little oxygen to unite around an improvised menorah. They conveyed a message to us, and it is the same message from thousands of years ago: "The more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew!" (Exodus 1:12)
Today we are guests at the Museum of the Jewish Warrior in World War II. "I only knew about myself to tell," wrote the poet Rachel; before we arrived, I documented here the heroic story of my father, Rafael Olewski, may his memory be blessed, who fought as a cavalryman in the Polish army, against Nazi tanks. What were his chances? He was wounded and captured and escaped despite the death penalty awaiting him. I also provided documentation about my uncle, the brother of my mother Rachela, Dov "Ben-Barak" Zelmanowicz, who also served in the Polish army and participated in the Sonderkommando uprising in Auschwitz. What were his chances? And yet he rebelled, fought and was finally murdered.
Both left me a legacy of Israeli national pride and independence. I feel indebted to them.
World Jewry was shocked this week by the murderous massacre in indifferent Australia. Anyone who thought that anti-Israelism and anti-Semitism were different terms, was faced with the truth. This separation is convenient mainly for non-Jews. The homeland of the Jewish people and Judaism is Zion and the Land of Israel. That is why we returned here. It is inseparable.
And this is what they do not understand in Bergen-Belsen, where the management is occupied by despicable German clerks who see us as their enemy, and who decided to silence us during the last memorial ceremonies, Us – the largest organization of its kind in the world and the largest and most active community of Belsen survivors!
I have news for those despicable German clerks: Bergen-Belsen is our territory and we are entrusted with the protection of this holy site.
In the context of Hanukkah, think of the Greeks of that time who entered and defiled our Temple, and how the Hasmoneans expelled them. Unfortunately, as then, there are also alleged "Hellenistic" jews today – two exile Jews, who, for reasons of personal expediency, collaborate with those German clerks. As a matter of fact there two more of this kind.
So, this is our message today as well: In confidence in God of Israel – as written in the our independence declaration – we promise that this time too we will defeat them!
This is the message of Hanukkah, and this is what awaits our oppressors in the diaspora.
