עוד סקנדל בברגן-בלזן
רבים מאיתנו מכירים את האיש הדגול הזה, ד"ר וילפריד וידמן.
האיש המדהים הזה הקים את מרכז התיעוד החדש והמודרני באתר ברגן-בלזן. הוא אחראי גם לתערוכת הקבע המוצגת שם, לעיצוב המדהים של הבניין, ולתרבות זיכרון חדשנית ששינתה את פני אתר הזיכרון לנצח.
כולנו – ניצולים כמו הדורות הבאים – חייבים לו חוב שלא ניתן לפרוע אלא בהכרת תודה אינסופית.
הוא עשה זאת כמובן בעזרת עובדים מסורים שהוא השכיל לבחור בקפידה. היה עליו להילחם על תקציב כנגד רשויות גרמניות שונות, והוא ניצח, למעננו.
האיש החכם, העדין והרגיש הזה שכל את בנו לפני שנה. מיכאל, צעיר בן 22, נחל תבוסה במאבק נגד סרטן אלים. אביו ואמו היו לצידו כל העת, וחור שחור נפער עם מותו בחייהם.
והנה, לא יאומן, כי האיש המרכזי בחיי אתר ברגן-בלזן, לא הוזמן לטקס לציון שנת ה-80 לשחרור!!! תקראו זאת שוב. לא ייאמן!
האדם הצנוע הזה לא ויתר, ולמרות גילו ומצב בריאותו, הגיע בכוחות עצמו ועמד מחוץ לגדר המיתחם. ביהדות, למונח "מחוץ לגדר" יש קונוטציות מזעזעות.
על הבמה הקריא מילים נבובות ראש הממשלה לשעבר, שטפן וייל; עוד ועוד נכבדים בעיני עצמם הוסיפו מילים חלולות, שני ילידי מחנה העקורים ברגן-בלזן תרמו מילים נוספות, אבל אף אחד מהם לא טרח לתבוע את עלבונו של האדם היקר הזה.
כמה כפיות טובה יש למנכ"לית קרן אתרי הזיכרון של נידרזקסן, ד"ר אלקה גריגלבסקי, ולצוות המביש שלה? כמה נמוך אפשר לרדת בסולם השיפלות?
אבל אנחנו, ארגון שארית הפליטה ברגן-בלזן בישראל, אנחנו ידידי אמת שלו. לנוכח גועל הנפש הזה כולנו בישראל רוצים לחזק את ידיו, ולהזדעזע כמו כל אדם הגון מהמוסר הירוד של המוסדות בנידרזקסן.
משהו רקוב בממלכה הזו, והגיע הזמן לשינוי דרמטי במצב זה.
בושה!

Many of us know this great man, Dr. Wilfried Wiedmann.
This amazing man founded the new and modern documentation center at the Bergen-Belsen site. He is also responsible for the permanent exhibition displayed there, the amazing design of the building, and an innovative culture of remembrance that has changed the face of the memorial site forever.
We all – survivors as well as future generations – owe him a debt that can only be repaid with infinite gratitude.
He did this, of course, with the help of dedicated employees whom he was wise enough to choose carefully. He had to fight for a budget against various German authorities, and he won, for our sake.
This wise, gentle and sensitive man lost his son a year ago. Michael, a young man of 22, lost the fight against violent cancer. His father and mother were by his side the whole time, and a black hole opened in their lives with his death.
And now, unbelievably, the central figure in the life of the Bergen-Belsen site was not invited to the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of liberation!!! Read it again. Unbelievable!
This humble man did not give up, and despite his age and health, he arrived on his own and stood outside the perimeter fence. In Judaism, the term "outside the fence" has shocking connotations.
Former Prime Minister Stefan Weil read hollow words on stage; more and more self-respecting people added hollow words, two Baby Borns of the Bergen-Belsen DP camp contributed additional words, but none of them bothered to claim the insult of this dear man.
How much ingratitude does the CEO of the Lower Saxony Memorial Sites Foundation, Dr. Elke Gryglewski, and her shameful team have? How low can one go on the scale of humiliation?
But we, the Bergen-Belsen Survivors' Organization in Israel, are his true friends. In the face of this abomination, all of us in Israel want to strengthen him and to be shocked like any other decent person from the poor morality of the institutions in Lower Saxony.
Something is rotten in this kingdom, and it is time for a dramatic change in this situation.
Shame!
