It is impossible not to understand the sad symbolism of Magda, who had just celebrated in Germany the 80th anniversary of her liberation from Bergen-Belsen, where she was reached by the sad news of the death of her great grandson, Sergeant Major Assaf Kafri, in the battle in Gaza.
There is no doubt that her heart could not withstand the great pain.
Magda had seen a wonderful family in her life, her revenge on the Nazi plot: 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
This is the line that connects Bergen-Belsen to the massacre of October 7, 2023, which we wanted to talk about at the events of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belsen, but the management of the Memorial Sites Foundation in Lower Saxony prevented this with malice and heartlessness.
We all share in the family's double grief, and hope that they will be able to find solace in Magda's legacy.
