משפחתה של חנקה גפנר ז"ל, שהייתה אחות בבלזן, נפגעה במלחמה The family of the late Hanka Gepner, who was a nurse in Belsen, was injured in the war
Dear friends
We asked you to update us on your well-being. Here is what Oded Gepner, second generation, wrote:
I am Oded Gepner, the son of Bergen-Belsen survivor Hana Gepner (Wilner), lives near Gaza in the Ein Habsor village with my three adult children who are Hana Gepner's grandchildren. Each of them has built his own house. Each of my children has children and in total there are seven great-grandchildren of the late Hana Gepner.
My eldest son Elad was in the village's standby guard when the terrorists arrived on that Black Sabbath. He was the only one at the village's gate with a long weapon. He fought until he was wounded. My second son Yiftah started to drive him to the hospital in his private car. On the way they encountered about thirty terrorists in pickups and motorcycles, who opened fire at them and chased them. Elad was wounded once more by two more bullets and lost a lot of blood. After surgery he recovered and is doing well. Yiftah's car was disabled from bullets and is unusable.
We have been evacuated for two and a half months now and are moving from place to place. Each of our nuclear families moves from time to time according to the least bad option for settings for the small children. The little grandson Erez, who is one and a half years old, was already in this period in four different kindergartens and each time he has to meet new kindergarteners and new children.
Let's hope for a better time for all the people of Israel.
Oded Gepner
